American Idol Ramblings

Colton.  Again, he captured my heart.  I loved that he chose a Lifehouse song and shared that it was his favorite worship song.  And his shedded tears at the end?  Perfect.  Don't listen to what Jimmy says, Colton....You Rock!  (Because Colton DOES read my blog.)
Skylar.  She has an amazing voice...if you are in to Reba Mcentire.  Which I am not.  At all.  But props to her for being good at what she does.

Heejun.  I have to admit, I wasn't too sad to see him go.  He wasn't one of my favorites.  Anyways...I LOVED the jacket that he wore on performance night.  It was light blue with vintage flowers.  I considered pinning pinned it on pinterest.  Yes, Heejun can be found on my wedding board.
Hollie's stage setup was amazing.  Fake snow and all.  Magical.
I was STOKED to hear that Jessica was performing BEYONCE's "Sweet Dreams."  She mixed it up and rocked it out.  Great pick, Jessica.
Joshua.  He is a great singer, but I find myself tuning out when he comes on.  He doesn't hold my attention at all.  Just not my style.  I would want him to leave next.

I loved Stevie Nicks as the mentor.  She was soo sweet!  That Jimmy, on the other hand, just needs to go.  Nothing nice comes out of his mouth.

And then there is the new "Trio" thing.  I didn't really enjoy it.  I would rather just watch each artist perform on their own again.  But kudos to idol for trying to spice things up.

American Idol Ramblings

Here are my ramblings for the week:
1.  I'm so bummed that Erica is off.  One of my faves.  And I feel terrible for her.  They suggested she get a new 'do, so she chopped her hair off and dyed it black....then she gets kicked off.  She still looks great, but I loved her short blonde bob!
2.  I have to admit that I was somewhat bored this week during performance night...until Jessica and Colton performed!  Jessica always does amazing.  I just love to hear her flawless performances.  Colton...again, I just love him.  He picked a great song, "Piano Man," and rocked it out on the piano.  I love his voice, his look, his faith.  He even mentioned his faith in God in front of all of America.  Such a cool guy.

3.  Something that confused me?  The stylists told Elise to quit wearing so many layers.  And then they dress her in this?

4.  Phillip Phillips is so sweet.  Steven Tyler threw one of his scarves at him.  Then before throwing it to a group of screaming teenage girls, he asks Tyler for permission.  Just a simple, kind gesture that I found sweet.

5.  Heejun.  There are really no words.  Don't love him, don't hate him.  Just no words.

The End.

P.S.  Did anyone else notice that Ryan Seacrest now has Bruno Mars hair each week?  Just curious.

Healthy(er) Living Part 5: Work-outs

So along with eating healthy(er), I have been trying to work-out 2-3 times a week.  I have either been running/walking the trail, going to the gym, or doing a video.  I just thought  I would give you some of my working out tips.
When I run/walk the trail that's located in our town, I make sure to do it in intervals. Intervals are good when trying to lose weight. I start out with a rapid walk and then when I have the energy built up, I switch to a jog/run. When I am tuckered out, I switch back to a rapid walk.

When I go to the gym, I usually start with some cardio to warm up.  I then do some lifting on machines that hit the muscles that I want defined.  I sometimes end with cardio, also.  When doing the elliptical or treadmill, I also do intervals.  What kind of gym do I go to?  My mother just joined AnyTime Fitness.  I checked it out with her and really enjoyed it!  If you have one near you home, you should check it out.  With a membership, you can workout whenever you want, even when staff are not there.  I was impressed by their elliptical machines.  Each one had a T.V. and a fan attached!  Sweet, huh?  That place has about anything you can think of.  If you want to check it out, go to:  I am planning on switching from my old gym to Anytime Fitness, or just going to both.

When I do a work-out video, I often choose a Chalene Johnson video.  Work-out videos are so BORING and take alot of motivation to pop in the DVD player.  Hers are a blast.  She adds dancing to her work-out videos.  I have one of her videos titled, "Fat Blaster."  It is a killer.  She uses intervals in that video.  I also have a slower-paced video of hers that focuses on your butt and stomach.  If you wanna check her out, go to:  Another video that I like is Zumba.  I'm sure you guys have heard of it.  It is a blast!  I also recently found a good online ab video from the Tone It Up girls at  You should check out their website.  They are great!  Here's the link to the ab video:

So...there is my work-out regime.  Overall, just remember to try to work-out frequently, work out in intervals, mix it up with different methods, and have fun while doing it!  Choose something that you enjoy so that you will want to do it.  Also, grab a buddy.  Two makes everything more fun ;)

Happy St. Patty's Day: Celebrate With Cookies!

Happy St. Patty's Day everyone!  I am celebrating by going to my boyfriend's brother-in-law's bday party.  I decided to make some cookies to take.  I used this recipe.  I chose this one because the cookies were described as being "thick" and "soft."  And, that they were!  What I did differently:  I tinted my dough with green food coloring, frosted with white frosting, and added gold sprinkles on top.  Enjoy!!

American Idol Ramblings

Here are my ramblings for this week:

1.  Jessica ROCKED that outfit.  I LOVED those pants.  And the shirt.  And the entire outfit. Total transformation!
2.  Erica looked great too!
3.  NOT happy about Shannon leaving.  She was one of my faves.  Darn. :(
4.  LOVE Colton.  He is my favorite as of now.  And he supports Christianity.  His bracelet that he is wearing has a Bible verse on it.  I just love him.
6.  Loved the judges' baby pictures.
Can't wait for next week!!

I have many, many dreams.  One of them is "to become a teacher."  This dream frightens me more than ever.  As I pursue my dream of becoming a teacher, I am challenged every single day.  Today, I was challenged yet again.  I started my six week internship in kindergarten at an elementary school.  Now, I am a shy, timid individual and I hate the fear of the unknown.  Last night I couldn't sleep, and I was nervous all morning.  But as I was going about my morning, I kept telling myself this quote.  "If Your Dreams Don't Scare You, They're Not Big Enough."  And my dreams, especially this one, scare the crap out of me.  I have so many questions about teaching yet to be answered, and so much more stuff to learn, but I just have to remember that it is normal to be scared.  And as my teacher always tells us "Inch by inch, life's a cinch, yard by yard, life's hard."  Therefore, all we need to remember is:  "One step at a time." :)

Spring: Birthday, Jesus, and Pastels

Spring is probably my least favorite season.  I like fall because of Halloween, pumpkins, colorful leaves, hayrides, the Calithumpian Parade, and Thanksgiving.  I like winter because of Christmas, New Years, cookies, snow, Christmas music, fires, and sweaters.  I like summer because of warmth, sunshine, water, swimsuits, campfires, 4th of July, lakes, ice cream, sun bathing, etc. (I could go on and on for this one.)  And then there's spring.  I like spring because of rain, mild temperatures, muddy yards, ...wait what?  Exactly.  I can never think of reasons why I like spring.  It's just so "BLAH" to me.  BUT, I sit back and have to remember that my birthday and EASTER take place in spring.  In fact, I was born on Easter back in 1989.  What more perfect reason to like spring?  Celebrating JESUS.  Yes, that is why I like spring...................AND pastel colors!! My whole entire room is decorated in pastels.  I thought I would share a few pictures with you.  So cheers to Spring, My Birthday, Jesus, and Pastels!!
Pink Speckled Eggs.  Love.  I purchased these at a small local shop in my home town.
As I did some spring cleaning this week, away went my winter Scentsy warmer, and out came my spring Scentsy warmer.  Btw, Scentsy is an awesome product and they have some ADORABLE warmers.  For more information, visit their website here
These are not sitting out in my room (they are crammed in my closet for storing), but they are pastel, and I wanted to share them with you!  I got them for SUPER cheap at a local store around Christmas time.
I fell in love with these boxes on Etsy.  I keep them on my vanity.  I store in them extra buttons, ticket stubs, and different sentimental items that I have collected over the years.

Happy early spring everyone!!

Magical Carpet Cleaner: Part 2

I just had to show you guys another picture of the works of this carpet cleaner.

BEFORE (i told you this carpet was OLD!)
Much better, right?!  This solution did wonders.  I still can't wait, though, to have my own house with HARDWOOD floors.  In my opinion, carpet is just gross.  The only room I would want carpet in is the living room.  Anyways, go here for the solution!

Magical Carpet Cleaner

My carpet in my room is SO old.  It has been there ever since my parents built this house, which was prolly about 30 years ago.  Therefore, there are alot of little stains on the carpet.  While I really wish to tear the carpet up and put down hardwood floor, that idea is not too practical since I will hopefully be moving out soon.  I shouldn't spend money on flooring.  So...with my OCD, the only other option was to scrub away.  So that's what I did.  I found this "Magical Carpet Cleaner" recipe on Pinterest and decided to give it a shot! I used it on stains on my rug and carpet both.  Boy, was it magical!  It lightened stains that have been on my carpet not weeks, but years.  You can still FAINTLY see some of the stains, but it is FAINT!! I was ecstatic!  I feel so much better that my carpet is cleaner than it was!  I was so excited that I went next door to my sister's room and tried out a stain on her floor.  Here are before and after pictures:

TA-DA!! Just using baking soda, warm water, vinegar, and dish soap.  Find the recipe here.

American Idol Ramblings

So...what are your thoughts on Idol last night?  Mine are as follows:

1.  My favorites that I listed here are still my favorites.
2.  I love Colton even more!  He rocked out his performance last night.  And looked super cool while doing it. LOVE.
3.  DeAndre knows how to work it.
4.  Singing comes so easily to Hollie and Jessica.  Wow.  I love listening to someone sing with no nervousness that they are going to mess up.  Those two are just flawless.  The only thing-I don't remember them singing anything but ballads.  It makes me wonder if they can sing all types of songs.
5.  Shannon did not do her best last night.  She seemed WAY too nervous.  I do not want to see her go, though!  I'm praying that America voted for her!
6.  Phillip Phillips.  I LOVED watching him rock out on his guitar.  The only problem I have with him, is that it seems so hard for him to get out certain notes.  It sometimes makes me nervous when he sings.  But then again, his voice is so different than the norm.  I do still love him.
7.  I didn't like a single song that was sung.  I was never a fan of Whitney Houston or Stevie Wonder.
8.  I found out that you can vote online through facebook at  Pretty sweet.  You won't get a busy tone this way.  But, each time you place a vote, you have to fill out those verification codes so that they know you're not a robot.
9.  I realized that more than half of the contestants are younger than me.  Which means, 1.  I am getting old.  or 2.  This is a young batch of singers.

Have a good Thursday! xoxo
